Keigo Mukawa

Biography

Keigo Mukawa won 3rd Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2021 and 2nd Prize at the Long-Thibaud-Crespin Competition in 2019. These achievements in two of the world's most prestigious competitions brought him to international attention. He is now active between Japan and Europe in solo and chamber music.

His repertoire spans from the Baroque to contemporary music. He is acclaimed for performances that explore the stylistic beauty of each era and composer, and for his diverse tonal palette. Beyond the modern piano, he researches performance practice on the fortepiano.

In 2017, he presented six recitals devoted to Maurice Ravel's complete solo piano works at CHANEL Pygmalion Days. In 2022, he released the complete recording on NOVA Record. All four commemorative recitals at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall were sold out. He continues this annual series: in 2023, five consecutive nights at the same venue met with equal success.

After studying at Tokyo University of the Arts, he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in 2014 with unanimous approval of the jury. He completed the third cycle in piano and the first graduate cycle in chamber music. He continues fortepiano studies while performing worldwide, and has published his own piano solo arrangement of Ravel's Ma Mère l'Oye with Muse Press.

In 2024, he received the 33rd Idemitsu Music Award.
